Painting and Distressing Furniture – A Well-Deserved Buffet

Recently my neighbor asked if I would paint a buffet she had recently purchased from a secondhand store.Image_2013-07-21

Normally, I would recommend she attend one of our classes and learn to paint the piece herself.

However, I can honestly say, this lady does not have time for either.

Lisa is the mother of ten children! Eight are adopted, and the youngest is seven months, so she has her hands full.

Wow!

So instead, we went over all the choices of American Paint Company’s amazing colors.

She decided on Beach Glass, a beautiful turquoise and a great choice!

A Perfect Blue Green

After I gave the buffet a thorough cleaning, I began painting. Image_2013-07-21_1If you notice from this picture, I am painting in my home.

American Paint Company is all natural and without paint odor or unpleasant fumes.

Additionally, any spills can be simply wiped away using a damp cloth.  After two coats of paint, I distressed the piece. Wiping off some of the Beach Glass color I then highlighted a few details by dry brushing with American Paint Company’s  Navajo White, a soft white, and yielded a gorgeous cabinet. Lisa has surrounded her buffet with clocks, each stopped at the exact time one of her children was born.  What an amazing idea and what a fun project this was for a most deserving mother!Image_2013-07-21_3
