Who, What, Where Wednesday – Pretty in Paint

grand opening

We had a booth in an antique mall for several years prior to opening a furniture  store of our own. I started painting furniture after my first visit to an Anthropologie store. I knew I could paint something and make it look good for much less money and then friends would buy it from me, so I thought I might be onto something. I had never really put too much thought into having a store of our own but
God had other plans for us.  We saved our money for two years while looking for a perfect storefront that was in a location with good traffic and was affordable. We found one and negotiated the rent and terms and it felt right to proceed with our new journey! We have been open for 9 months and have been busier than we ever would have thought.

I have been able to hire two employees and have APC paint classes in store twice a month.

We are proud to say that every class has been sold out for 9 months!

Our heart in this business is to encourage women that they CAN decorate and design with their own hands. We love teaching women they can paint a piece of furniture and make it look like a pinterest picture! I love helping them figure out what they are good at and helping find outlets or resources that will help them earn an income while still being at home with their kids.

Here are some pieces that we have painted using our paint of choice, American Paint Company.

Comments

  1. I love, love, love Pretty in Paint and the work that Mindy does. Plus: she is a sweetheart! I have never had the chance to meet her personally (I grew up close to where her shop is but live six hours away now) but have a few small decorative items that she has been able to ship to me. I think her work is amazing and her spirit is inspiring!

I am a huge fan of Pretty in Paint. It’s my “Mother’s day out” stop for inspiration and fun. MIndy , Heather, and Isabelle have been marvelous help as I attempt to accessorize my home. I use the American Paint and have loved this new expression of creativity. Definitely a must stop while in the area. Thanks ladies for always “making my day”. Happy and a prosperous New Year.

Mindy and Luke took a huge leap of faith and landed on a cloud. Together they have both garnered the respect and admiration of probably hundred’s of people, myself included. Awesome people, awesome store, awesome talent…I could go on. It’s a blessing to know them.
