Surfing U.S.A. I couldn’t help but sing when I finally finished this dresser that I’ve been tinkering with on and off for several weeks. I painted it three times trying to get it just right but each time I wasn’t feeling it. Am I the only one who does this?
I was stumped until I started painting the sample trim pieces for the new chalk and clay paint. I felt like a kid in a candy store!
You know me, I like to mix ‘em up. I painted the base in APC’s Beach Glass, a fabulous teal.
The top was given one nice coat of APC’s Blue Jeans then washed with a thin layer of Surfboard. Wow! What a cool combination that is!!
The icing on the cake was when my friend Laurie stopped by and asked if I wanted to borrow her awesome stencil for anything. Um ~ YEAH!
I mixed up some leftover sample pots to paint a base color of orange then topped it off with another layer of yellow.
Scuffed it up a bit then sealed it with APC’s Clear Antiquing Wax and off she went to the shop to await her new owner.
Ooo~La~La!

That is a gorgeous piece Shelly. I can look a piece for a time before I know what to do with it. My sample pieces have helped as well. The colors deepen so beautifully as they are finished. Keep inspiring us!
