Nothing is more joyous than welcoming a new baby and nothing is more important than protecting that little bundle of joy. Recently my daughter gave birth to our second grandchild and there was much to prepare for.
When she was very pregnant, she called and asked me the best way for her to paint the crib she had just bought off Craig’s List. Of course she was concerned about using a product that would harm her or her baby.
Being as advanced as she was in her pregnancy, the only answer was American Paint Company chalk/clay/mineral paint!
Being a no-VOC paint and an eco-friendly product, I sent her a quart through the U.S. mail (another benefit of being non-toxic) of Heaven’s Light, a soft pale yellow. She was preparing for a daughter and the baby décor would start with some brightly colored fabric with hot pink, aqua and touches of yellow. The scheme needed some softness so a soft yellow was just the color! She began by painting the crib before putting it together, that saved all the bending and stretching that would be difficult in her condition.
When I arrived after the baby finally came, I painted the matching changing table in no time! They live in a downtown loft style condominium with 4 floors, so it wouldn’t exactly be convenient to drag it outside to paint. Luckily I didn’t have to!
I painted it right there in the kitchen with no fumes and no worries.
The paint dries quickly, so in no time I finished it off with 3 coats of Top Coat for a safe eco-friendly finish that would be water resistant, gave it an appropriate drying time and moved it into place.
Now her little nook in the room is decorated and safe for all! How adorable is this?
It’s so amazing to have a product that I feel comfortable working with everyday and to have painted pieces near all our loved ones (especially babies and pets) with no harmful fumes emitting into the air.
With someone this precious, American Paint Company would be the only choice!
Love it!
