Chantelle purchased APC from Buds and Blooms and she shares with us how she transformed a beloved antique dresser into a modern looking piece to fit the updated look of her living space.
This piece was an old dresser, (dating back at least 30 years) that was passed down to her husband from his mother.
When she received it, there were obvious bangs and dings in the finish.
She didn’t want to throw it away, so after much thought she decided to transformed it into a great piece for her living room.
Products used:
Paint colors used on this project were Starry Night and Tarnished Platter.
On the top, Black Glaze was applied, and then sealed with clear Top Coat.
Starry Night is a blue hue in a deep and midnight shade. And fTarnished Platter is a grey blue hue with silver tarnished under tones.
Transform a Beloved Antique Dresser into a Modern Looking Piece
So how did Chantelle transform this piece?
First, she sanded some of the damage from the dings.
Then, she applied the first coat of starry night. It went on very evenly.
After it dried a second coat was applied and sealed. She loves how the base dried and turned out.
Black Glaze was then applied on top and she was amazed at how fast it dried.
Two coasts were applied as she was going for a really dark top to match their entertainment unit.
Finally, she applied another layer of sealed to finish it off.
For the drawers, she painted over a stencil with the color Tarnished Platter. Two coats of paint were applied.
Once dried, two coats of sealer were applied. She is in love with the overall results and would recommend this process to anyone.
